Biography

RDP (Reproduction et Developpement des Plantes = Plant Reproduction and Development) is a laboratory associated with the "Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique" (CNRS), the "Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique" (INRA), the "Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon"(ENSL) and the University (Universite Claude Bernard Lyon I). Its major fields of interest are plant reproductive biology and plant development. These fields are studied with a multidisciplinary approach including genetic, cell and molecular biology as well as plant physiology. Five research programs, with overlapping interest and funded by several international research grants, are currently in progress; (i) control of floral morphogenesis; (ii) sex determination and characterization of genes controlling the initiation of reproductive organ development, (iii) self-incompatibility, including analysis of S-gene family members, S gene product identification, localization and role ; (iv) plant gamete isolation and characterization, and functional analysis of fertilization and zygotic activation using an in vitro model of gametic fusion; (v) controlled induction of embryogenesis and identification of markers and regulatory genes of early zygotic and androgenetic embryo and endosperm development.
