Dr. John D. Imig is a Professor in the Vascular Biology Center and Department of Physiology at the Medical College of Georgia. He has won numerous awards for his research in cardiovascular and renal physiology and recently received an Established Investigator Award from the American Heart Association. Dr. Imig¿s research has been continuously funded since 1992 by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. He earned his B.A. degree in biology from Blackburn College in 1985 and he received a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics in 1990 from the University of Louisville. Dr. Imig moved to the Medical College of Wisconsin for postdoctoral training and accepted a faculty position in the Department of Physiology at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1993. He moved to his current position at the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. Dr. Imig has authored numerous peer reviewed manuscripts related to the anti-hypertensive and renal and cardiovascular protective properties of epoxygenase metabolites and epoxide hydrolase inhibitors. He serves on editorial boards for scientific journals of the American Physiological Society and American Heart Association and he serves on many study sections including the American Heart Association Cardiovascular Regulation Study Section. | Home page
