Sponsorship

Valerie Eviner sponsors free access to F1000 for Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya, Indonesia. Supporting F1000's initiative to make itself available to scientists in all countries, including free access to developing countries (more details).

Biography

My research focuses on:
(1) how organisms and interactions among organisms influence ecosystem processes and properties
(2) linking cutting-edge ecological research to management (e.g. restoration, sustainable agriculture).

Research interests:
-Linking population and community ecology with ecosystem ecology
-Plant traits that determine plant species effects on ecosystems
-Context-dependence of species effects on ecosystems
-How plant species effects change over time
-Non-additive effects of species mixtures on ecosystem processes
-Diversity and ecosystem function
-Plant-microbial interactions and their effects on ecosystems
-How ecosysetms are influenced by plant interactions with other organisms (e.g. gophers, voles, deer)
-Ecology of invasive plant species
-Ecosystem effects of self-thinning
-Biogeochemical interactions
-Ecosystem ecology in managed ecosystems
-Development of an ecological toolbox for restoration and sustainable agriculture
-Global change effects on plant-soil interactions
