Dr. Christoph Dehio studied Biology in Cologne, Germany and received a Ph.D. in Genetics in 1992
for his work on the pathogenic interactions of Agrobacterium rhizogenes with host plants.
From 1993-1995 he did a post-doc at the Institute Pasteur working on the mechanism of host cell invasion
by the bacterial pathogen Shigella flexneri. From 1995 to 2000 he was a group leader in the
Department of Infection Biology of the Max Planck Institute for Biology in Tuebingen, Germany,
working on the mechanisms of host cell invasion by the bacterial pathogens Neisseria
gonorrhoeae and Bartonella hensleae. In 2000 Christoph Dehio was appointed as an Assistant Professor for Molecular
Microbiology at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, Switzerland. The current research
focus are the pathogenesis mechanisms of Bartonella spp. as emerging pathogens. |
